Development Authority of the North Country

Above is the internet mapping application (IMA) I managed as a specialist (www.dancgis.org/ima).  This was one of the main tasks I undertook when our previous specialist resigned. Unfortunately I do not have any lines of code to share, the information is considered proprietary information since the IMA was built by a consultant from VHB.  You are more than welcome to verify my involvement with coding with my former supervisor.

The Development Authority of the North Country is a public benefit corporation serving northern New York municipalities.  Our GIS group served our internal divisions including telecommunications, water & wastewater, engineering, and materials management facility as well as sixty-eight external customers including counties, municipalities, and a private telecommunications company. I served as a Technician and was promoted to Specialist during the two years I was with the organization.  I helped manage our internet mapping application, responded to map requests, provided customer service to troubleshoot accessing our web application, assisted with a water & sewer district consolidation, conducted topography surveys, and assisted with data collection.

Tupper Lake Water

As part of a larger project to consolidate water and sewer districts in the Town of Tupper Lake, NY. Due to the lack of organization and independent contractors adding on service laterals in the town, there is very little documentation on who is considered to be in a district. This is one of many maps I created to correct billing records and district boundaries.

Regional Sewer Line

Working with the water quality department operators and manager, I created an updated map of current sewer and water infrastructure to plan for upcoming upgrades.

Municipal Fieldwork

The Development Authority's GIS program served as a cheaper alternative to local municipalities for GIS services. We were contracted to georeference old water, sewer, and storm infrastructure as-built construction drawings and field verify the infrastructure using mapping grade GPS devices.

Annual Landfill Topographic Survey

Using a Trimble Survey Grade GPS to collect 10,000 points to measure topography. The Materials Management Department has only permitted with so much airspace for the landfill. This annual study helps keep track of elevation and how much the landfill compresses downward.
